Welcome to my blog. Ten years ago I discovered that making cards was super fun. I keep learning as I watched many expert crafters and artists on the internet. Thanks for stopping by.

For the Birds
I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge HAPPY BIRTHDAY. SSS is 7 years old! Hooray!
I love this Birthday card! I was playing around with texture paste again after watching Jenn Shurkus on Periscope two weeks ago. You can see her terrific mixed media card here- Touchy Feely.
I had previously colored the Tim Holtz Crazy Bird and wanted to us it on a card .... so I cut the package and hat and used a blue copic. I then decided to do a multi layered card with a mixed media approach! I had some textured card stock in cream and added Distress Inks in Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord, and Blueprint Sketch with a blending tool, Next I held a stencil from crafters workship called mini chicken wire over the panel and added texture paste mixed with Black Soot Distress Ink. I picked up the circles in some pattern paper for the sides of the panel. The rectangle die is from MFT. I like the way it frames the bird and adds more texture. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday embossed in white on black cardstock.
I have a cousin who will be having a birthday later this month - this card will be perfect for him! Thanks for reading my blog! JJ

Hippo Birdie!
A Happy Birthday Card for Simon Says Stamp - Seventh Year Birthday - Hooray!
This card is for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!
Hi crafters! I actually made this card for my step daughter's upcoming birthday. It was a tough decision because she loves penguins! But, I have given her penguin cards for the past year, so I thought I'd better switch it up a bit! I had bought the Lawn Fawn "Year Four" stamp and not used it, so I thought it was time.
I used several different pattern papers to create the background of my scene. The sun die and grass are from My Favorite Things. The images are from Lawn Fawn's Year Four stamp and Hello Sunshine stamp. The birthday cake is from Technique Tuesday. I used both copics and water color Zig markers to color the images. I stamped the balloons directly on the pattern paper and drew their strings. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Year Four stamp.
Masculine Thank You
I am entering this card in the Lawnscape Challenge BEAUTIFUL FLORALS
I made this card for a friend who needed a masculine thank you card. It was a good challenge b/c we are all used to flowers for thank you cards, right? lol By using simple florals in masculine colors, I thought I would be able to create a great looking card. I loved the die cut trees and corrugated paper, but I wasn't sure about the litttle tag in the right corner? I felt it was better than a button or sequins!
Here is list of the products I used:
Impression Obsession tree die
Technique Tuesday Wild Flowers stamp
Brutus Monroe Chalk Inks
DCWV Corrugate Neutral Cardstock
Tag - from some pattern paper I had
Friend
Good morning crafty peeps! I wanted to make a "resist" card for the current Simon Says Stamp chalenge and who doesn't love the resist technique anyway!! I used a large stamp (lost the name) to emboss with versa mark on yellow card stock; then I took Twisted Citron and swirled it on the panel. Of course it RESISTED the embossed design and created a lovely green and yellow back ground. Check out the close up below.
The floral dies are from Simon Says Stamp Stitched Daisies and Clearly Besotted Leafy Accents. I used Shimmer paper for the daisies and created three layers with the different sizes of daisy petals. The leaves were stamped with Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf ink. My "friend" die is also from Simon Says Stamp. What do you think?

I Dig You
Good Morning! I finished this card last night and wanted to post it quickly so I could enter it in the My Favorite Things Challenge. As you can see I used a combination of two stamp sets: You Gnome Me and Sunflower Sweetheart. I love these two sets from last year because I love gardening and the images are so sweet.
I used distress inks for the background of the square panel which was cut with Die Namics Stitched Mini Scalloped Square Stax and then adhered the gnome, etc. to the panel . I wanted to create a strip of pattern paper for the right side so I searched through my stamps and found some small flower images to use and used two die inks which matched the plaid paper (also from MFT.)
I rounded the corners and added a few enamel dots to finish up the card. I hope you like it!

Thinking of You
Floral card for three challenges.... Colour Q, Lawn Fawn, and SSS Wednesday Work It!
Helo crafters. I hope you had a nice weekend! I had a few new stamps which I wanted to try this past weekend. Hero Arts layering bird and My Favorite Things Beautiful Blooms. Plus, I saw a challenge which I have never entered. It's COLOR Q blog. At the left you can see the colors for the challenge. As I don't have any Stampin' Up ink, I used Hero Arts: Fresh Peach, Pool, Pastel Blue, and Orange Soda.
I am also entering this card in the Lawnscape Challenge Beautiful Florals #127 and Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday Pastel Challenge
I realized that the bird was floating!! Not sitting on anything in particular, so I drew in a small branch with my Tombow marker. Now the poor birdie can get a rest after all his hovering! LOL

Friend
I made this card for a dear friend's upcoming birthday.
But, I also want to enter it into the following contests:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge ANYTHING GOES
I had bought the Hero Arts Butterfly Pair a while ago and didn't realize that the butterfly body did not cut all the way through. This effect is fabulous because it leaves the butterfly flying with it's wings up in the air. I just had to use glitter paper underneath their wings. The "Friend" part of the sentiment is from Essentials by Ellen and the "Happy Birthday" is from an older Stampendous stamp set. They went together pretty well. Below you can see the entire card.
I created the water colored panel by coloring and splattering distress paints on some water color paper. The photo doesn't do it justice... the panel is more aqua looking in real life!
