Happy Birthday Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

This is a special challenge because SSS is celebrating Six Years of Monday Challenges! 

I am entering this card in the Special Monday Challenge CELEBRATE!

A Fortune Cookie stamp! This is an older stamp set from Simon Says Stamp and I absolutely love it! The bottom layer was stamped with dark purple using a large stamp with the tiny circles. The next layer is patterned paper I made with the gelli plate and cut with Lawn Fawn's scalloped rectangle stacks dies! The rest is from the stamp set. So cute!

Daisy Thank You

Another card completed today! This card evolved because my crafty friend Cindy. She borrowed my HA Daisies, made a card with them, and then sent ME the card! When I saw how lovely they were, I wanted to use them myself. Hence, this "daisy" like flower card!

The panel on this card was heat embossed after applying versa mark through a stencil with a circular dot pattern, gray on yellow. I picked up the gray in the leaves and bottom THANK YOU strip and made the daisy like flower light yellow. I wanted just a pop of color so I added the dark pink butterfly. This little one is from a Stamp of Approval Box earlier this year.  The photo here isn't so great. The card has a subtle soft hue which I love.

You & Hibiscus

More flowers! I have enjoyed coloring and stamping flowers lately. Maybe it's the influence of the summer gardens around me. Speaking of gardens, in September my hubby and I are going to Hershey, PA for a few days. While there we plan to go to the Hershey Gardens. I'll take pics for ya!

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Fabulous Florals!

         For the panels on this card, I used Spellbinder's Rectangle die and Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackable. I used a stencil and white embossing powder for the background, applying distress ink for the color. I had to mask off the flowers so I could stamp them in between the embossed stencil. Then, after removing the masks, I used Hero Arts Layering Hibiscus and Altenew Beautiful Day leaves to create my "garden." To finish the card, I added a few hearts and a white doilie in the upper left corner with the "You" die from Stamp of Approval - Casual Fridays Stamps. For the flowers and leaves I used a ink pads in my collection from several different companies. I mix and match my inks in order to get the colors I want. This card took me longer than most because of all the steps involved, but I LOVE how it turned out! I decided to send this one to a very special person for her birthday - my sister!

Hello Texture Square

Baseball on TV? No thanks! I'll play in my craft room instead. LOL Here's what I came up with today. It's my attempt at mixed media. I'm new to this, but I sure like the way this turned out!

I am entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge ADD SOME TEXTURE.

For this card, I started with texture paste and a big background stamp with a small dot design applied to water color paper. After it dried, I added some water and Distress Paint in several colors. Next came a layer of clear gesso and a bit of Distress Crayon in Spiced Marmalade, rubbed on with some water. I wanted to add lots of different elements including die cuts, wooded elements, and a stamped panel which resembles a window. I also punched a few holes in several corners to match the tiny circular depressions. Most of the colors are shades of pink, purple, and orange, but the contrasting black hummingbird,window frame, and "Hello" help give more dimension to the piece. I really like the way this turned out. It represents so many elements I love! Thanks for reading my blog today!

Hello Feathers

Another card completed today! This card evolved because my crafty friend Cindy (find her HERE) let me borrow her FEATHER STAMPS, and I wanted to use them before the summer ended! I wasn't sure how I was going to do this because nothing else in my craft room has feathers! Well, I played around until I came up with an idea.

Lots of texture and dimension on this one so I am entering it in the 

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge "Texture."

Look close and you will see a tree trunk - a red tree in front of lots of black and white trees! This die from SAVVY stamps has texture built in. Check out the close up view below. I made a "bunch" out of the feathers, after adding some distress ink, and adhered a piece of red and white twine at the top of the bunch. A little red for accent and a greeting finished the card. So Fairy Sweet

Hello all. Here's a card inspired by Jenn Shurkus -FIND HER HERE - and a class she taught at Big Picture. com called Distress Ink Card Techniques. You'll see that I used several colors of Distress Inks for the night sky. Before I applied the ink, I stamped and masked the images. I used masking paper as well as masking liquid. Both work fine.

These pixies are from Avery Elle and the Toadstool house is from Purple Onion Designs. Lastly, I applied Snowflake Paste from Prima Marketing which gives the card dimension and texture. Now that I look at it, I definitely need some sparkles... so I'll go add them!
