MFT Magnificent Masking with Chunky Chevron

I'm back with another entry for My Favorite Things Camp Create! Today's lesson and creative challenge is Magnificent Masking! You can find all the details on the blog as well as a video for today's lesson. I love how my card turned out! Details below...

         I decided to use the same idea presented in the video: make a mask out of a die and use it for the background of my card. Here, I took the "Chunky Chevron Cover Up" Die Namics, created a mask, and then sponged Distress Ink over the top, Worn Lipstick, Squeezed Lemonade, and Carved Pumpkin. I adhered this panel onto a piece of silver paper cut into a rectangle.

         Then, I used Die Namics "Stitched Interactive Window Trio" to create two peep-a-boo windows in the front of the card. Under each window I stamped two of the My Favorite Things "Bionic Bots" and colored them with copic markers. The sentiment is popped up in the middle of the card.

         To finish off the windows, I added dots made with Nuvo Copper Penny to look like tiny "pulls," Here are two more photos.

                                   

MFT Camp Create - Inlaid Made Easy

Hello again! The third creative challenge for My Favorite Things Camp Create is Inlaid Made Easy! The results of using this technique is that you have a ONE layer card! I actually made two cards with the inlaid pieces because when you cut the elements needed for one card, you end up with two sets of elements ! To start, I took a piece of card stock I created with a gelli plate and acrylic paints. I matched up the colors with some solid card stock and used Die Namics "Heart Full of Love" and Die Namics "Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frame." By die cutting all the pieces several times from the patterned paper and the solid paper, you can mix and match the design until you get the desired effect you want. The first card was created with a white card base; the second card is on a yellow card base. Unfortunately, it's hard to see in these pictures, but the gelli plate paper is full of texture, designs, and colors!

MFT Fantastic Foiling with Tweet Friends

I am also going to enter this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Flora and Fauna.

For my card, I started with a 6 X 8" piece of card stock and covered it with Silver Deco Foil, 

placed it in the plastic cover sheet, and ran it through my mini minc machine. 

I used the silver paper for the Die Namics "Stitched Verticle Cover Up," and the 

bird cage in the "Cheerful Cages" set. A few accent pieces were cut with black paper

for the bird cage as well. The MFT "Tween Friends" birds were stamped and colored

with copic markers and I used a sentiment from the set. All of the elements were adhered

to a piece of blue card stock and then to a black card base. I added the green sprigs

from "Beautiful Blooms" for a finishing touch.

Sand Paper on Card Stock

Hi crafters. I wanted to try a technique I saw on BIG PICTURE in Kimberly Crawford's class. The end results works for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Flora and Fauna

I ran some brown card stock through the Big Shot in an embossing folder - trees from Darice. Then I used some sanding paper across it which exposed the white core. I had intended to use the lighter parts as the trees, but then I realized the darker parts looked more like trees against a lighter background - either way would work.

I cut a piece of tan card stock with a Die Namics oval die to create a faux window on the front and popped the panel up with foam adhesive. The sentiment is a stamp set and die from Impression Obsession. In fact, the bird, nest, and birdhouse are all from Impression Obsession.

To the Moon

Hi all, I bet many of you saw Jennifer McGuire's recent video, Floating Die Cut Panel. Well, I got stumped when I tried to cut the stars out ... and it was late in the evening ... so I decided to do something a little different. But, for sure I will try the Floating Die Cut again soon. I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Red/White/Blue

As you can see, I wedged the smaller stars between two pieces of card stock die cut with a larger star. On the top panel I used MFT Mixable Mist Sheer Shimmer to achieve a shimmery glow. It's hard to see in this pic!  The moon stamp and sentiment are from Brutus Monroe, and the sequins are from Mint Owl Studio, Cloudy Day mix. The small stars are a new die from Simon Says Stamp called Stacked Stars, and the large star is from Sizzix.

 

Vacation!

Hi bloggers! I've been away - not just from my blog, but from my house... went on vacation with my family and had a grand time. There are so many great pics to choose from, but I'm just going to put one up here. Yep, you guessed it. Me and the grandkids!! Hope you are having a terrific summer!
